About the Lessons

Grades 1 & 2 Piano

  • I use Alfreds Premier Piano Course, starting with book 1A in my lessons.

  • I design each lesson I offer according to my students’ abilities, and make the necessary changes once I become more familiar with their needs.

  • You will become familiar with notated music, time signatures, dynamic signs, rhythm patterns and proper technique including finger coordination.

  • I use flashcards and visual tools for young children.

  • I can help you work towards and take your grade 1 & 2 with the ABRSM examination board.

Grades 1 & 2 Keyboard

  • Grade 1 keyboard is perfect for those with more of an interest in popular music.

  • Instead of notated music, lessons would focus on understanding chord symbols, chord progressions, and conventional harmony.

  • The lessons are based around Andrew Scotts Progressive Keyboard Method for Young Beginners books or Complete Keyboard Player by Kenneth Baker, depending on your age.

  • can help you work towards and take your grade 1 with the ABRSM examination board.

Grades 1 & 2 Music Theory

  • I structure my music theory lessons in accordance with the ABRSM examination board.

  • Discovering Music Theory Workbooks and Answer books can be purchased with these lessons. This will allow students to prepare for ABRSM grade exams if they wish to take them.

  • Each class includes practical and theoretical instruction, along with plenty of time to put your new knowledge into practice.

  • Students will learn everything from key signatures, time signatures, rhythmic notation to elements of composition such as rhythm and harmony.

  • I also use flashcards and visual tools for young children.

Music Production

  • I offer comprehensive lessons in Ableton Live and Logic Pro, catering to all skill levels from beginners to advanced users.

  • If you wish to focus on Music Production instead of a specified DAW, lessons are taught in conjunction with Rockschool: Music Production - Coursework Edition books.

  • Students will gain an understanding of a range of DAWS such as Logic and Ableton.

  • We will look at Audio Engineering Tools, such as EQ, compression and understanding mixing consoles.

  • We will also look at what defines a genre, for example, what makes a pop drum beat.

  • Lessons on Ableton's Push are also available for an extra £5.

  • We can look at sample papers and work towards your RSL Awards (Rockschool Ltd) music production grade exam.
